Help Protect Your Happy Place from Unwanted Plants and Animals–Give to the Lake Host Charitable Giving Program
NH LAKES developed the Lake Host Charitable Giving Program to help our local partners participating in the Lake Host Program to raise funds from individuals and businesses for the Lake Host payroll expenses at their lake or pond.
Many groups in the Lake Host program are volunteer-run and do not have 501(c)(3) status. As a donor to this program, you will receive a thank you letter, receipt, and assurance that 100% of your contribution will be dedicated to the NH LAKES Lake Host payroll for the local Lake Host program you designate.
Lake Hosts play a vital role in preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species, which can cause significant harm to our lakes and ponds. By inspecting boats and educating boaters about the importance of clean, drain, and dry practices, Lake Hosts help to ensure that invasive species do not gain a foothold in our lakes. Through the Lake Host Charitable Giving Program, you can support the expenses of having Lake Hosts monitor boat ramps throughout the state.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Lake Host Charitable Giving Program:
Is NH LAKES a 501(c)(3) organization?
Yes! All donations through the Lake Host Charitable Giving program receive a receipt for tax purposes.
NH LAKES is an exempt organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
My lake group isn’t listed on the form. Can I still donate to my lake?
If your lake group isn’t listed on the form, it’s possible they are not participating in the Lake Host Program, and therefore would be unable to receive donations to support their payroll. For questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I remain anonymous?
Yes, there is an option to remain anonymous on our donation form. Only your donation amount will be reported to the local lake organization that operates the Lake Host program at that lake.
Can I send a check to my local lake group, and they can send it to you?
In order to establish donor intent, receive a tax receipt, and ensure your donation is designated to the appropriate Lake Host program, we require using our online donation form or mailing in your check with the PDF form available here.
