Take the Lake-Friendly Boating Pledge!
What does your perfect New Hampshire lake day look like? Maybe it’s an early morning fishing trip. A boat ride with family and friends. Swimming off the dock. Pulling the kids on a tube. Or finding the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
New Hampshire’s lakes belong to all of us. By taking the Lake-Friendly Boating Pledge, you commit to protecting clean water, wildlife, the lake shore, and the boating experiences we all value.
Commit to five simple actions that help keep New Hampshire’s lakes healthy, beautiful, and enjoyable for everyone:
- Protect water quality by preventing fuel spills, maintaining my boat, never discharging waste into the lakes, and packing out trash.
- Prevent the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species by cleaning, draining, and drying my boat, trailer, and gear between waterbodies.
- Protect shorelines and lake bottoms by operating at appropriate distances from the shorelines and in adequate water depth.
- Protect wildlife by giving animals space, including loons during nesting season.
- Protect native plants by avoiding shallow areas that may support sensitive habitat and vegetation.
Pledge during Lakes Appreciation Month – July 2026 – to be entered for a chance to win the ultimate lake-day prize package, including:

Official Rules:
- No purchase or donation is necessary to enter.
- One entry per person.
- Participants must submit the pledge during Lakes Appreciation Month to be eligible.
- Employees, members of the Board of Directors of NH LAKES, as well as members of their immediate households, are not eligible to win.
- The winner will be selected at random and contacted by email.
- Winners must pick up the prize package at the NH LAKES office or a mutually agreed-upon location within New Hampshire. NH LAKES does not ship prizes. If a winner is unable to claim the prize within 30 days, NH LAKES reserves the right to select an alternative.
